About Us
As I begin this blog, I am also looking for some great deals on a vacation next Fall to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I love my husband and I love to travel. Together we adore our six children, currently aged 12-22. We met in our home town in California, spent our first five years together in Provo, UT while we both finished school. We enjoyed seven years in Oregon and have loved the last 13 years living on five acres in rural Washington state. We chose country living because we love peace and quiet, and we wanted to give our children a place where they could roam, explore, and use their imaginations. It has been great.
My husband grew up on the central coast of California. This is where I was born, but also ended up living in Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Wyoming and finally Colorado before returning to California where we met. Growing up, I found all of that moving to be pure torture, but now it is one of the favorite aspects of my childhood. I love so many different places, have diverse memories, unique experiences and a variety of friends. We both came from families that demonstrated faith; loved to spend time with us; talk with us, teach us how to be successful adults and explore life together. My mom read to us extensively (she’s a great reader). My dad seems to know a little of everything (about almost anything) - and he is a deep thinker. We are trying to build on that foundation and have a home where learning at all levels can be offered, anticipated, examined and embraced. We love each other and have found laughter to be the best coping mechanism for life’s many challenges.
